The verdict was in. After 40 hours in the hospital it was time.  Well, I guess you can say, after 10 years of marriage and nearly 5 years of trying to conceive, it was time to deliver my baby!

As the nurses began to prep me for my c-section, I was full of so many emotions. Pure excitement over the thought of meeting our baby girl, fear for surgery, as I knew this was a big one, anxiety over wondering if I made the right decision in opting for a c-section and most of all pure gratitude to G-d for bringing us to this day.

Once I was prepped and Marc was in his scrubs, it was time to head to the operating room. Marc and I joked that this felt like an episode of Grey’s Anatomy, anything to keep us calm.  Marc was told to wait outside for a few minutes as they wheeled me in and got me on the table.  It was so bright, white and sterile! Where was McDreamy?

It was go time and the Doctors and nurses moved with such skill and speed to get this special delivery on its way.  It was like a well choreographed dance.  Marc assumed the position of loving husband, holding my hand and then the fun began.  The Dr. looked at me and asked me if I was ready to meet my Beshert, Hebrew for destiny/meant to be.  I smiled and said yes.  I again quickly recited the Shehechianu, thanking G-d for bringing us to this day.

I heard the machines beep, I felt pressure and seconds later I heard the Dr. say “Happy Birthday!”  I thought, “Gee, I wonder whose birthday it is!”  Then it hit me, it was my daughter’s!

They lifted her above the curtain so I could see her before she was cleaned and inspected.  The tears found my face in record time.  Marc held her hand while they checked her from top to bottom and I heard him exclaim “that is a Mommy face!”  I melted into the operating table.  Our baby girl was finally here.

A lifetime of dreaming and 10 years in the making. I just became a Mommy.

I am thrilled, proud, blessed and thankful to introduce you to our daughter, Janie Bryn, born on Saturday June 9, 2018.
